Hear Straight from David on his Track Record for Lowering Taxes
Hi, my name is David McDonald, and I am running for Williamson County Commissioner for Precinct 2. Yesterday, many of you received a text from my opponent, and I want to take a moment to set the record straight. I will do that with facts and not lies that you were given yesterday in the text. As a police officer for 25 years, I believe in the facts. The facts on how I voted on property taxes are recorded on the City of Leander’s website.
Here are the facts. As a Councilman, I advocated for ensuring a balanced budget, while making sure our City provided quality services for our residents without raising their tax burden. Since being elected to City Council in 2022, I voted to LOWER the property tax rate for residents from $.47 down to $.43. In 2023 I again voted to lower the property tax rate from $.43 down to $.41 for our residents. Both years this passed unanimously by our council. In 2024 and 2025 we voted to maintain the same property tax rate that was approved in 2023. As a homeowner and someone who pays property taxes, and we pay more and more every year, I am open to finding other ways to fund our county government and getting rid of forever taxes, including ways to cut spending.
Those who know me know that I don’t simply appear in our community when campaign season comes around—I am a part of our community, and I’ve lived out our American values firsthand and fought to protect our country as a Marine and in our community as a police officer. As Commissioner, I will ALWAYS fight for you. I also believe when you are electing someone to represent you, they should have integrity, be of good character, and be trustworthy. That is why I have the endorsement of so many of our first responder associations, community leaders, and State Representative Terry Wilson.
Many of you know that I am a strong Christian, but I am also human. I must admit when I first saw the text I was angry. In the past, I have called my opponent an honorable man. Now he is desperate and has decided to go negative because he knows that he lacks the experience to be Commissioner.
God’s ways are not my ways. I do my fighting on my knees. I have prayed for my opponent and his team who felt it necessary to send out a blatant lie about my record. God is my defender and my strong tower. I have forgiven Jeff and his team. Thank you for taking time to listen, and continue to pray over our county, state, and nation.
We’re only days away from the Republican Primary Runoff on Tuesday, May 26. Don’t let OTHERS make your decision for you. Let’s finish the job—vote David McDonald for Williamson County Commissioner, Precinct 2.
